He said that the city is enjoying the benefits of the vision and farsightedness shown by Kempegowda who ruled in Bengaluru under Vijayanagar Empire. The Prime Minister laid emphasis on developing Bengaluru along the vision of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda, who laid the foundation for building Bengaluru city in the year 1537. Saying that connectivity will play a crucial role in India’s development, he noted that the airports will increase business potential and offer opportunities for our youth. The number of airports in India has gone up from 70 to 140, air passenger traffic has increased and the air network is expanding by the day. Air connectivity is also seeing transformation. As part of which the railway stations are being modernised and freight corridors are being developed. He said that in the next 10 years Vande Bharat trains will signify the new look and identity of the Indian Railways. ![]() He said that outdated thinking days are over and the country is today moving at full speed. He stressed that the governments before 2014 considered speed a luxury and scale a risk which has now changed to speed being considered as an aspiration and scale is considered as a strength. ![]() He was addressing a public gathering in Bengaluru today after flagging off South India’s first Vande Bharat Express train, inaugurating the swanky second Terminal of Bengaluru International Airport and unveiling 108 feet tall bronze statue of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda in Bengaluru today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his clear intentions to transform social infrastructure, improve connectivity and modernise Indian Railways. ![]()
